  Chapter 1

Emily woke to the sensation of twin mouths on her breasts. Her hands slid up Gideon’s and Gabriel’s back to fist in their hair. She took a long breath, inhaling the musk of their arousal. It had been this way since she had transformed two months ago. Her men couldn't make it through the night without touching her. Taking her.

She moaned as Gideon nipped her. He liked things a little rougher than Gabe, always marking her skin, holding her in place when he didn't want her to move.

Gabe was every bit as dominant as Gideon yet he maintained a sweetness that his hard-edged brother lacked. Together they were impossible to ignore or resist. She squirmed as Gabe's fingers slid between her legs, parting her lips as he circled her clit. He was tortuously slow about it, forcing her to squirm, looking for relief. He knew exactly what he was doing.

Gabe moved down to her belly button, kissing gently as he moved slowly lower. Two fingers pressed inside her, moving in and out, forcing her to push against them. “You smell so good. Your skin. Your hair. Especially your pussy when you are dripping all over my fingers.”

She had admitted to them a week ago that she and her wolf loved it when they talked to her in bed. They hadn't used telepathy in the bedroom since.

“You should lick it then. We both know you love the taste even more.”

“Fuck, I love it when you talk like that,” Gabe said, moving down between her legs.

She moaned as his tongue stabbed deep between her folds, licking and sucking her juices, causing her hips to rock against him. “Yes! like that. Harder Gabriel!” His tongue penetrated deeper.

Gideon left her breast, putting his palm on her chin, turning her face toward him. “I want my cock in your mouth. Don't move.” He released her so he could position his knees on either side of her head. She felt her control slip as she watched him stroke up and down his shaft. Her vision intensified. She saw every defined hair on his chest. Every follicle unique and as beautiful as the bronze skin it adorned.

Gideon fisted his cock. “Open your mouth.”

Her eyes flicked up to meet his as her tongue slipped between her lips. “Emily. Open your fucking mouth.”

He wasn't mad. It had become a game to push Gideon's disciplinary boundaries. “Or what?” she said, knowing her eyes were glowing, her wolf basking in the show of dominance.

He pressed against her lips. “I will fuck you in the ass so hard you won’t sit down for a week.”

She felt her core tighten. Gabe growled. “She wants it Gideon. She likes it when your cock is buried in her ass and mine is so far up her cunt she can’t move.”

She couldn't fight the burn any longer. Her mouth opened, allowing the hard velvet slide between her lips.

Gideon pushed in as far as he could comfortably go. “Suck hard Emily. I want those amber eyes on me as I take your mouth.”

She moaned around Gideon's cock as Gabriel pushed his fingers into her ass while continuing to lick her vigorously.

She pulled back as she came. The tsunami too strong to concentrate on what she was doing. Gideon's cock rested on her lips as the fire that licked across her skin subsided.

Gabriel raised his head. “Do you want me to fill that sweet ass of yours?”

Her eyes flashed with heat just before pain seared through her skull.

She gasped. Her arms lashed out at the weight on her chest, scratching deep groves in Gideon's chest before he could jump to the side of the bed. She kicked Gabriel in the shoulder before he could get a safe distance from her flailing legs. She saw a flash of her and Beth. She felt the utter hopelessness and despair. The guilt. The humiliation. Her surroundings were unfamiliar. The smell of the ones holding her down fermented in her nostrils making her nauseous. The deep Haitian accent whispered and laughed in her ear. Beth’s blood ran freely from her nose and eyes as she lay unconscious on the floor beside her. Then she was back, staring at her mates.

Their twin faces a perfect match of concern and pain. She had hurt them. The two men that meant everything to her. She covered her face in both hands and sobbed openly.

Gabe touched her leg tentatively. “Emily honey are you okay?” his voice so gentle. She cried harder.

“Baby, stop. You're killing us here,” Gideon said with pain in his voice. “If we hurt you...”

She dropped her hands quickly. “It wasn't you. I don't know what it was. I was in pain. I was being held down. For a moment I was somewhere else and Beth...”

They both sat on the bed. One on either side of her. They were giving her space though she felt their need to touch her.

  “You're blocking us,” Gideon said.

“What do you mean?” She put her hands on the bed, opening her body to them.

Gabe looked at his twin. “I don't think she is. The connection is gone.”

Her heart raced. “I didn't mean to hurt you. I panicked when you were on top of me. I'm sorry...”

Gideon put his hand on hers. “Emily. Gabe wasn't talking about our mating bond. He is talking about our telepathic link.”

Emily concentrated on them, searching for their thoughts. Gabe was right. The connection was gone. “How did this happen. Did I do something?”

Gabe shook his head. “No honey. Something happened to you. Your face glazed over. Your whole body was moving but you weren't here.”

Emily's thoughts raced but the memory was slipping from her mind. “How do we fix this?”

Gideon rubbed his mouth. “Tell us everything about this memory.”

Emily reran the brief encounter in her mind before responding. “That's the weird thing. It wasn't a memory. I didn't recognize the place or the voice I heard. I was never beaten like that. I never felt that helpless in my life. I was giving up.”

Gabe rubbed her leg gently. “You said you saw Beth. Was it Julius' attack on her? When she died? Is your mind coming to terms with her being a vampire?”

“No. I saw Beth as a child. We were both children but we never experienced anything like that. We were placed with a few families that had no interest in us before we found a permanent home with Sicily but none of them physically hurt us.” She paused to think about Gabe’s comment. “I am so grateful that Donovan saved Beth. I don't care what she is as long as I can see her again.”

“Do you think it was some sort of vision?” Gabe asked.

Gideon shook his head. “She isn’t a seer and visions are usually of the future. She was a child and it doesn't explain why our connection was lost.” He grabbed her hand and brought it to his mouth, kissing her fingers. He inclined his head toward Gabe. “I’m goi
ng to find out though. I've had enough years with this asshole being the only one in my head. He's a total baby when you aren't there to call him on it,” he said with mock sincerity.

Gabe threw up his hands. “You’re just pissed because she won't let you get away with being a dick to me anymore,” he said rolling his eyes.

She cracked a small smile. Not because she felt the humor of the moment. She knew her mates were doing everything in their power to make her feel better. She didn't know how to explain that the guilt wasn't just about hurting them. She pondered their dilemma as the faint smell of lavender and mint tickled her senses.

She was off the bed, pulling on a satin robe when Gideon stopped her by moving in front of the door. “What are you doing?”

  “She's here.”

There was a knock at the door. Gideon growled. “Vampire.”

Emily ran to the door. The twins grabbed white towels to wrap around themselves and followed. They stood an arm's length away as she yanked open the door.

“Hi, sistra,” Beth said, her Jamaican accent much fainter than Emily remembered.

Emily flew into Beth's arms, hugging her fiercely until Beth gently stepped back. Her eyes were all black for a few seconds before returning to the dark chocolate color Emily was so fond of. “I'm sorry Beth,” she said.

“It's okay honey. I am just getting used to the whole drinking blood thing and shifter blood is...potent.” She smiled wryly. Her skin was a few shades lighter than before. The hue, complete perfection. “Wow you were always beautiful but I have to say this vampire thing looks good on you.”

Beth shrugged slyly. “You know I can make anything look good.” She fluffed her hair – an action Emily had seen hundreds of times over the years.

Emily laughed. “I'm glad this hasn't shaken your self-confidence.”

Beth's smile died on her face. “Honey I don't have much time.”

Gabriel opened the door wider. “Get in here Beth.”

Emily forgot they were still standing at the door. “Yes, come in and tell me why you’re upset.”

Beth entered, looking the twins up and down. “Damn girl. You said they were hot but them men is off the chart.”

Gideon stepped forward, his voice challenging. “We’re Emily’s mates.”

Beth’s eyes went black. Her voice was low. “You’re her mates but if you hurt her I’ll kill you.”

Emily put her hands between them. “Stop this. The three most important people in my life are all in this room. Don't do this to me. Not now.” The earlier incident was too fresh in her mind.

Gabe slipped his arm around Emily, pulling her close to his body as he turned to Beth. “Don't mind Gideon, Beth. He's always grumpy before he has his coffee.”

Gideon stared at his twin with contempt. “I don't drink coffee.”

Gabe winked at Beth. “You should.”

Beth twitched a smile. “So, you’re the charming one,” she said.

Gabe shrugged. “I try. Where's Donovan? He said you were his ward or some shit. That he had to supervise you until your probation was over. Whatever that means.”

Beth glanced away guiltily. Emily knew that look. “Beth. What did you do?”

Beth met her gaze. “I ditched him at the mansion. I'm sure he will be here soon so I don't have a lot of time.”

Emily sighed. “Why did you ditch him. Is he mistreating you?”

Beth waved a dismissive hand. “Nothing like that. He is teaching me to embrace my American roots. To fit in better with the vampire hierarchy. It's boring but that’s not why I’m here.”

Emily noticed the difference in Beth's speech. “Your accent is barely noticeable now and the usual inflections in your speech are missing. Why is he trying to remove your Jamaican heritage? It's nothing to be ashamed of.” Emily felt her wolf rising with her anger.

“Emily girl. Your eyes are glowing,” Beth said, the awe evident in her voice.

“I'm sorry, honey. I'm mad. Your mother was beautiful. I hate that Donovan is trying to take that heritage away from you.”

Beth shook her head sadly. "It isn't my Jamaican heritage that’s the problem right now, it’s the Haitian part."

  “What?” Emily asked.

“My great grandmother was a voodoo priestess. She passed her powers on to my mother.”

  “Oh shit,” Gabe said.

Emily tightened the sash on her robe. “Why would that matter? She died when you were five.”

Gabe looked at Gideon. “Donovan would never have turned her if he knew about her heritage. He wouldn't have gone against the vampire council even to repay his debt to me.”

Beth ran her hand nervously over her long black hair. “You're right he wouldn't have. I didn't have any power when I died.”

Gideon growled low. “Are you insinuating that has changed since your rebirth.”

  “Yes,” Beth said.

“Did you have anything to do with the vision Emily had earlier?” Gideon accused.

Beth’s eyes flashed black. “Indirectly yes. But that wasn’t a vision. It was a memory.”

Emily shook her head. “No, I was never beaten like that and neither were you.”

A single blood-red tear rolled down Beth’s cheek. “I had to have your memory of that night taken away. You felt responsible. You completely shut down. You were too gentle for the things he did to us.”

Emily's wolf raged to the surface at the implication. She knew her eyes were glowing. “I was a virgin when I met Gideon,” she said.

“Yes, you were. He wanted you to have his children. He beat you but he didn't want to risk damaging you for fear of causing you to become infertile. He said he would wait until you were fourteen.”

“How old were you when he started raping you?” Emily felt her men rubbing her back, reassuring her silently. They understood her pain. Her guilt.

“It only happened once. That night. I was eleven as were you.”

  “Fuck!” Gabriel snapped.

“How come I can't remember?” Emily asked through the tears.

“That night he had been drinking. He told you that he planned to marry you someday. You called him a bastard. It was the first time I ever heard you swear. He lost it. He started beating you. When I tried to stop him, he beat me. You grabbed a knife and threatened him. You said there were two of us and one of him. He laughed. That's when we found out he was a Bokor. He called two of his zombies into the room. They held you down while he raped me in front of you. He told you that everything he did to me was your fault, and that in a few years he would do to you what he was doing to me.” Beth placed both hands on her mouth, taking a long breath before continuing. “The things you saw.

The guilt you felt. I watched you. Your eyes were saying sorry to me as the light slipped away from them. I didn't have much power then. I was a child but I felt you give up. He did too. He panicked when you didn't move. He cleaned me up then cut his own face before rushing us to the emergency room. He said we were in a car accident and tried to get you medical attention. After a week in a catatonic state, the doctors gave up on you. I couldn't. I made a deal. One that I will stand by.”

“What kind of deal,” Emily whispered.

“I met a mambo, a priestess, a few months before the incident. She was kind. She said if I ever needed anything to come see her at her shop. On your ninth day in the hospital, I went to her. I told her everything. She cried softly as she prayed for me. She said there was only one way to save us.”

Emily already had an idea where this was going but she needed to hear Beth say the words. “She said she could make him forget he ever knew us, but in the process you would forget everything that had happened while we had been placed with him. We were only with him for eight months. There was nothing good in that time worth remembering anyway.”

“She made me forget him. And he forgot us?”

  “Yes,” Beth said.

Gabe squeezed Emily's shoulder. “What was the price, Beth?”

My powers.”

The door smashed open. Donovan entered in a blur. When he stopped his eyes were full black as they focused on Beth.

The men stepped in front of Emily, low growls emanating from both of them.

  “Stop it!” Emily snapped.

Gideon's eyes glowed as he looked at Donovan. “I don't like vampires showing up at my door unannounced,” he sneered.

Emily watched Beth’s expression fall in shame. Emily gave Gideon a hateful stare. “Beth is welcome in my home anytime she wishes or it isn't my home at all.” She saw Gabe's face flinch. She didn't know what he communicated with his twin but Gideon's lips pursed as if he’d been reprimanded.

Gabe slid a reassuring hand down Emily's back. He held the other out to Beth. “She isn't a vampire. She's family. Aren't you honey?”

Emily saw the hope in Beth’s eyes. She realized as confident as Beth was, she was unsure about her importance in Emily's new life. She took Gabe's hand and let him pull her to Emily's side.

Emily looped her arm with Beth's. “You are my chosen sister and you always will be. If you ever need anything from me... including my blood, you need only ask.”

Donovan hissed. “Do not make such an offer! She is a babe and will be unable to resist that lure. It's like offering a drunk thirty-six-year-old scotch.”

Beth turned on Donovan. “I would never hurt Emily!”

Donovan took a step toward Beth. “Excuse me if I don't take you at your word but you told me you would wait for the mandatory three-month probation before seeing her.”

  “She's in danger,” Beth said.

  “Yes. From you.”

Emily held up both hands. The tension in the room was alarming her wolf. “Let's just sit down and talk this out.”

Donovan's fangs flashed. “Beth doesn’t have time. Once she is discovered missing from the mansion, both of us will be executed.”

Gabe looked confused. “Why would her disobedience come down on you?”

“Your knowledge of vampire society is limited. When a vampire chooses to turn another that individual becomes their ward during their integration into our society. The first three months are exclusively spent at the council’s mansion so that there are no accidents while a fledgling is learning to control their appetites.”
